Open Canoeing

Open canoeing or Canadian canoeing is one of the most flexible and versatile forms of paddling. Canoes are paddled with a single blade kept on the same side, this balances out quite well when there are two of you but is a bit harder to manage solo. Once the steering skills are mastered all sorts of options arise from daytrips with picnics to multiday camping trips, sailing and even whitewater.

The club has three open canoes, all doubles with space for small people or overnight camping gear. They are very stable and often a good choice for families or the less able bodied as a way of getting everyone out on the water.
